Welcome Message
Dear friends and colleagues
Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) and Alzheimer’s Society are delighted to invite you to the 27th International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International held in London from 7 to 10 March 2012.
Conceived as ‘three conferences in one’, under the theme Science, Fact, Fiction, parallel sessions will focus on these three strands bringing them all together into exciting plenaries and debates that concern us all. This ensures that the conference will be valuable for professionals, scientists, researchers, policy makers, people living with dementia, informal and professional carers and all Alzheimer association staff and volunteers alike.
London in 2012 will be an exciting and energised city in preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place just after the ADI conference. We intend the conference to be no less inspirational than the latter event! The Olympic motto Faster, Higher, Stronger, also reflects three very important areas of our cause: the speed with which we need to move to find a cure; our increasingly higher aspirations for those living with the condition and how much stronger we become by working together as a worldwide movement.
Despite appalling statistics illustrating the scale and scope of dementia, this will be a conference that brings hope for; better awareness and understanding; more resources for research; and greater recognition of the rights of those living with dementia and their carers.
Alzheimer’s Society and ADI are determined to make this a worldwide conference that will have lasting impact.
London has a welcome for you that is second to none. The combination of history, culture and beauty make it a fitting backdrop to an historic conference.
We do hope you will join us at this event, which promises to be well worth your while.
